Get To Know Our Campus

It is not only our historic brick building from the Wilhelminian era that can look back on a long history, but also the Berlin Mitte campus itself. It was opened in 2006 as the very first Phorms school campus. More than 900 children and young people currently experience a bilingual all-day community in German and English here. From nursery through primary school to secondary school, they are supported in their development by our around 180 colleagues. In addition to bilingual education, one of our fields of special focus is STEM. The holistic afternoon programme ranges from sports and music to creative writing.

High-quality and excellently equipped school laboratories are available for the natural sciences. The school grounds have two sports halls, an exercise hall as well as specially equipped music rooms.

In addition, there is a 1:1 programme with tablets for Years 5-9 and students in Years 10-12 are equipped with their own laptops. Everyone also has access to our versatile campus library.

Your Advantages

When you start, you will receive training on the Phorms concept so that you can quickly find your feet. We would be delighted if you would like to contribute your own strengths and interests. It is also particularly nice that you can see the children you look after grow up on their way to the Abitur. However, if you do need a break, you have 30 vacation days a year at your disposal.

Equipment

We can use the school's sports facilities and often go to the adjacent playground. We have lots of musical instruments that you can discover and try out together with the children.

Organization

In our PhorMinis nursery, around 35 educators look after around 160 children from the age of 2. There are nine age-homogeneous groups and a reception for the year before school entry. In addition to language, we focus on movement and music. Despite the participatory approach, routine is important to us for the children. They go to the library and to sports once a week. Excursions with the children are also regularly on the agenda. Depending on their age, we also visit the ball pool or the laboratory once a week to learn how to use the Smartboard and carry out our first experiments.

Your Advantages

With the support of the educators in the classroom, concentrated work is possible, even in small groups. In addition, our school social worker supports the students in the social and emotional areas so that you can concentrate fully on your core competencies as a teacher. Extra time is set aside in the timetable for your planning and we encourage and support further education and training so that you can always be the teacher you want to be.

Supervision is shared throughout the team and there is a great deal of friendliness and courtesy throughout the campus. The international nature of the team means that you can experience the feeling of an international working atmosphere in the heart of Berlin. We also offer you the opportunity to complete your traineeship at our primary school.

Equipment

Digitalization plays a central role at Phorms. Accordingly, all classrooms are equipped with smartboards and tablets and laptops are available, including for you as a teacher.

In addition to our sports halls, the two fully equipped music rooms and the library, you can also use the school environment to organize your lessons. The teaching materials are included and of course you do not have to pay for them.

Organization

In our primary school with four classes, around 500 children are taught and cared for by around 90 teachers. We follow the Berlin curriculum and incorporate various best practices from around the world into our English lessons.

We have a class size of 22 students and an educator in each class supports the teacher and encourages the students. Lessons and various projects are prepared together as a team.

Your Advantages

Our team is very international and we are a team. Teachers and educators work hand in hand so that, for example, supervisors are also taken on by teachers. Where possible, you can contribute your own strengths to the AGs. The friendliness in the team and the courteous cooperation are truly unique.

The fact that you, as an educator, are involved in a large part of the lessons is a good opportunity for your personal development. We support you with training and further education. In addition, there are monthly team supervision meetings where we gather feedback from each other.

Together with the teacher, you will prepare the lessons and various projects. You will support the students in the classroom and also provide social support, for example when it comes to the class council or emotional learning.

In the afternoon, we work in the 1st and 2nd grades on a partially open basis with reference educators. Year 6 also has a reference educator, and in Years 4 and 5 we work in an open, holistic way.

In the afternoon and during the holidays, we offer internal and external activities on the topics of exercise, health/nutrition, art/culture and literacy. During the holidays, you will also be responsible for a group as a reference educator.
